The iPhone, as a smart phone, can do almost everything you need it to do. Nowadays iphones contain many features and apps that let us do a lot of things simultaneously. From checking e-mails to listening to music or watching videos on YouTube, today’s generation have lots of fun with their iPhones. Unfortunately one drawback of having a smart phone is that it usually runs out of storage space very quickly. Here are some tips to help you free up storage space on your iPhone or free up more space in general on all iOS devices.
Manage Your Default Apps
To keep the device running smoothly, Apple has limited the number of apps that can be synced with the iPhone. The device only syncs 30 email accounts, 25 SMS message threads and up to 50 bookmarks. This is why it is important that you manage your default apps carefully if you use more than these amounts of data on a daily basis.
To change your settings navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendar’ > ‘accounts’.
Remove Old & Unused Apps
If your iPhone is containing a lot of apps you no longer use it is best to remove them. Your iPhone needs storage space to run the apps that are actually downloaded onto the device. If you don’t need an app or if you have multiple similar apps you should delete them to free up storage space.
To remove an app navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘General’ > ‘Storage & iCloud Usage’. Click on the app you want to delete and click ‘Delete App.’
Clear Your Safari History & Cookies
Clearing your history can be a very useful trick when it comes to saving storage space on your iPhone. By clearing the history you will be deleting all cookies and website data that are saved when using Safari, which could potentially save up to 300MB of space. If you’re finding it difficult to clear your history in storage settings, try going into ‘Settings’ > ‘Safari’ > ‘Clear History.’
To clear your cookies navigate to ‘Settings’ and click on Safari. Click ‘Clear Cookies and Data’.
Disable Unnecessary Location Services
Location services is a feature that makes various apps more powerful. For example, if you use Google Maps or Yelp it can pinpoint your exact location with the help of GPS. Unfortunately, many companies even average applications are using this service. They use it to give you more accurate information based on your location, which is great if you need it but also takes up a lot of storage space. Turn off location services for all apps that are not necessary in order to free up storage space.
To disable unnecessary location services navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘Privacy’ > ‘Location Services’. From here you can select the apps that will use your location services.
Clear Your Old iMessage Threads
If you use iCloud for backups, clearing out old iMessage threads can save storage space on your device. It is good to keep some of them but if they take up too much storage space it’s best to remove them. To do this navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘Messages’ and click on Edit in the upper right-hand corner. You can delete old messages and disable notifications for certain threads by selecting them and tapping “Delete” or “Notify.”
how to speed up icloud photo upload
The Apple iPhone 5S has an impressive camera, but it’s not always practical to use. You might want to snap a photo in the dark, or when you’re in motion. Fortunately, both of these problems can be solved with clever (and legal) hacks. But what about when you want to upload all your photos and videos over Wi-Fi?
Some of you might think that iCloud will handle your photos and videos, but unfortunately you’re outta luck: images and movies shot with the iPhone 5S aren’t stored in iCloud.
